How to configure FFDShow, that will work on Windows 7 x64? When I run movie, there is no FFDShow icons (for audio and video) in Windows tray.
I also try 64-bit version of FFDShow and it doesn't work too. Thank you for helping me.

ffdshow is awesome.
recently i changed my windows to win7 64bits, and installed FFDSHOW 64bits but there is a problem that I can't listen to any MKV movie sound.
I hope developers can fix this quickly.

Excellent piece of software, has codecs and filters for audio, video and subtitles support (which could be a bit better, I use DirectVobSub), multithreaded etc etc.
Only problem, aside from subs, is Xvid encoding (using Xvid-library, haven't tried libavcodec), which produced jerky picture, so I use a separate install of XviD.
@Bobo: I think you need some CD/DVD-copyright removing app, search here or google eg. "decss on-the-fly", "watch copyrighted DVD" or some such, or, you could rip the CD/DVD to hard-drive and watch it there; there's that kind of rippers aplenty, classic being DVD Decrypter, though it's not updated anymore.

I'm not sure if this was what to get but I got xp home on my lappy and updated it and such but no decoder came with it. So I got this and its almost working ... I think. I have copyright problems apparently? I just want to be able to play DVDS!

im on xp sp2. this codec really got worst on virtualdubmod.espcially converting m2v+wav files out to h.264.
it freezes couple of frames then it played.
audio is not in sync.
i updated to this after installing k-lite codec pack.i had no problem with the previous rev610. this one even export a black video for h.263+.
what am i missing?

I can't think of any flaw except some limitation on styled sub... This codecs play just about everything, it's pretty easy to setup yet very configurable if you wish to do.

I was just trying to play an MPEG video, went to search for the codecs,I didn't intend to make a movie or make money from it, got to this site. It said freeware very boldly, when installed it, it forced me to register, when I go to register, it asks me for some big money.
Isn't this a con firm? Just waisted my precious lunch hour at work. Now if I possibly wanted to buy this in the future, I surely won't buy it from this firm.

Works great. I downloaded it and everything works just fine now. I had some problems with my ac3 audio and mpeg (video) files, but after this, everything can be played that comes from my cam corder. Amazing!

The codec works fine and my card is able to decode H.264, DXVA only doesn't work when I use my monitor's native resolution of 2048x1152. If I set it to 1920x1080 it works fine however the image isn't as sharp outside of MPC so I have to switch the res back and forth.
I think this is a problem with this specific card at this resolution, so I don't know if the FFDshow coders can do anything about it :/
It works great at 1920x1080 though, really takes the stress off my CPU.

The DXVA feature only works with hd3850 cards and "higher" types as far as I know @ KEZIA.

I got an ATI HD3850 (AGP!) and I can decode several H264 1080p videos even simultaneously, without any performance-loss. So FFDSHOW really kicks a** in my opinion! ;)
So, by the way, will there be a feature to EN-code H264 videos with DXVA in the coming FFDSHOW-Builds? 'Cuz that would be god-like...

Excellent codec, however DXVA doesn't work with my ATI HD3650 when my resolution is set to 2048x1152 (my Samsung's native resolution). If this could be fixed in the next release I'd be very appreciative :)
I think this is a problem with ATI cards + 2048x1152 resolution.

There is a sound problem with high definition H.264 ts files from the Humax iHDR-5050C. The sound is not synchronously. The high definition video is very good now, without stuttering! See for a Humax iHDR-5050C H.264 file here (Humax 1.ts)

excellent decoder, i use it for years,Haali+FLVsplitter.ocx(from guliverkli project)+FFDShow and only WM Player. perfect combination. only want to ask is where an implementation of libavcodec wrapped as media foundation decoder and not DShow?????
because on VISTA .mp4 & .MKV thumbnail are not available.

Now that the SSE (2009-04-09) version supports SSE 4.1, my encoding speeds have drastically improved! An encode that took 1 hr. 5 min. now takes 45 min.! (And that's at 3.5 GHz; at 3.83 GHz the same encode took 54 min. with the previous version!)

El codec fddshow es sin lugar a dudas el mejor codec del mundo, ESO SI; DEBES SABER CONFIGURARLO PARA APROVECHAR TODO SU PODER, el codec fddshow es controvertido porque algunos dicn que no sirve y otros, como yo, dicen que esto es una obra de arte del software....
Sin lugar a dudas si tu decides probar con este codec pero sabes muy poco de informatica pues mas que seguro que TENDRAS PROBLEMAS, pero si tu dominas la multimedia, sabes sobre formatos de video y sabes sobre codec pues EL FDDSHOW NO TIENE COMPETENCIA EN EL MUNDO
El fddshow te permite SIN INSTALAR NI UN CODEC MAS, reproducir en tu pc videos MOV, DIVX, MPG2, Real Media, 3GP, MP4, FLV y un largo etc.. ES INCREIBLE!!!! todos los formatos incluso te permite mejorar su calidad considerablemente
OJALA ALGUN DIA PREMIEN A SU CREADOR y espero que el fddshow continue con su desarollo pues practicamente cada mes sacan una nueva version...

if you guys have problems with playback or the video decoder software gives you an ffdshow.ax error.

is what i use.
i guess it'd be best to uninstall ffdshow first, install the microsoft package, then install it again, or you could regsvr32 ffdshow.ax in the installation directory

When Playing WMV, WMA files under Vista 32bit there are constant slow downs in the playback performace. Please Fix this in the next version. I use an Athlon 64x2 6400+ Dual core processor.

I think that this is the best @#$%ing codecs to watch or listen anything. Anyway i found that there is something that you guys should check with the subtittles, Please try to fix the subtittles size like vobsub does, i'm actually using vobsub now because the subtittles looks so great!, try to put the same settings as vobsub does and FFDShow will be perfect.

Hi, I use ffdshow from WinXP, for video playback and edition. But now with my Vista32 and 64 in all edition software when I try to compress to h264 or other codec in ffdshow the software crash!!!, is there an issue over this?
I can't find a solution on this with google.

I like ffdshow a lot and it's very useful, but I'm having a little problem.
I had installed ffdshow and could watch any video I wanted but after I uninstalled and reinstalled it I am no longer able to watch mp4.
The player says that the file can't be opened whereas before that I could watch it normally.
What can I do about it.
I tried many versions of the ffdshow but nothing can seem to remedy it.

ok playback issues fixed since last few revisions, had made playback under vista media centre very skippy, it was a combination of nvidia and FFDshow, they werent working together, so u have to d/l the 174.74 beta drivers for vista, for it to work well, also d/l the metroska splitter to work with it and playback is 100% beautifull, after installing these 3 things you will never ever need any codec at all EVER IT PLAYS EVERYTHING with the

No subtitles in VirtualDub! Loading them, then configuring how they should look, and switching back to first dialogue (where u have already loaded them, makes them dissapear, and of course, they dont work!). Previous version (not so sure wich, could be some month ago) worked just fine.
