The Nikon RAW Codec is a software module that enables you to handle RAW image files (.NEF: Nikon Electronic Format) under Microsoft Windows Vista with the same ease as JPEG or TIFF images.

Supported Cameras :

• Digital SLR Cameras:
- D3X, D3, D2Xs, D2X, D2Hs, D2H, D1X, D1H, D1, D90, D80, D70S, D70, D60, D50, D40X, D40, D700, D300, D300S, D200, D100, D3000, D5000
• Digital Compact Cameras:
- COOLPIX 8800, COOLPIX 8700, COOLPIX 8400, COOLPIX 5700, COOLPIX 5400, COOLPIX 5000

Install Procedure :

- Create a new folder with an appropriate name on your computer's hard drive.
- Save the file to the folder that you created in step 1, and then run it to begin the installation program.
- Next, follow the instructions that will appear on the screen to install the software.

Confirming Operation :

• Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
- Right-click an NEF image and select "Open with" > "Windows Photo Viewer" or "Windows Live Photo Gallery".*
- Confirm that the image is displayed full size.
• Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (32-bit)
- Right-click an NEF image and select "Open with" > "Windows Photo Viewer" or "Windows Live Photo Gallery". *
- Confirm that the image is displayed full size.
• Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit)
- Right-click an NEF image and select "Open with" > "Windows Live Photo Gallery". *
- Confirm that the image is displayed full size.
* Note: Windows Live Photo Gallery can be downloaded from the Windows Live website.

Uninstall Procedure :

- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Select Add/Remove Programs.
- Choose Nikon RAW Codec from the list of the installed programs and execute to run the uninstaller.
- Next, follow the instructions that will appear on the screen to uninstall the software.

Changes in Nikon RAW Codec 1.9.0 :

- Supports NEF (RAW) images taken with the D3S.
- Supports 32-bit versions of Windows 7.
- Addressed issue that resulted in movies created with Windows Movie Maker being blacked out or not displaying correctly.
